About Us
The members of Wilmington Lutheran Mission Church (WLMC) care for one another in love, gathering together for the purpose of strengthening each other in commitment to Christ and His mission. They are faithful in bible study, worship, and the use of the sacraments and prayers, so that the love of Christ will make them fervent evangelists and doers of the Word. As individuals and as a congregation, they seek Christ's mission of serving their neighbors in their needs and of telling them about the forgiveness of God in Christ.

Sunday Worship Service Time: 9:30 AM. Holy Communion is available each week -
Pastor Ken Castor will lead the service and preside communion. Becky Castor lead the youth Sunday School.
Fellowship starts at 10:45 and Christian Education begins at 11:00.
Denomination: Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) - Members since June 2012.

WLMC Statement of Faith Purpose
The need for a statement of faith at Wilmington Lutheran Church (WLMC) arose in June of 2011 while continuing the process of determining which denominational path the congregation wanted to take, if any.
The people attending WLMC come from a variety of theological backgrounds and church traditions.
To remain true to the Lutheran faith, we knew it was necessary to develop a statement of faith that is faithful to the Scriptures and Lutheranism. Also, to the extent possible, we want the statement to represent the diversity of those who are committed to live in relationship with Jesus Christ and one another in harmony.
The Bible is our final authority in matters of faith and practice. Therefore, the statements that follow reflect our best attempt to express what we believe, and how we are to live out that faith.
We confess the teachings of the Book of Concord, assembled, published and guided by Martin Luther and other reformers. We believe them to be a faithful explanation of what the Bible itself teaches.
The first documents included in The Book of Concord are the three universal creeds -- the Apostles' Creed the Nicene Creed (fourth century), and the Athanasian Creed (fifth and sixth centuries).
Luther and the other writers of these confessions maintain that we believe and teach nothing more and nothing less than what Christians through the ages have always believed.
The Gospel (the good news of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world) is at the core of everything we believe and teach.
We Lutherans believe that sinners are justified (declared right) with God by grace alone, through faith alone, on the basis of Scripture alone..
Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth.
WE BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
WE BELIEVE that God is the one true God, the Triune God: God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Grace alone
WE BELIEVE God loves all people, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love. He sent His Son Jesus to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
Faith alone
WE BELIEVE that Jesus was the substitute for all people of all time when His suffering and death, purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God though His Spirit creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
Scripture alone
WE BELIEVE the Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word in the original manuscripts and in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
Other Theology
WE BELIEVE that the Sacrament of baptism is not simply plain water. Instead it is water enclosed in God’s command and connected with God’s Word. Baptism brings about forgiveness of sin, redeems from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe it, as the words and promise of God declare, Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be damned.” The water does not do this, but it is the Word of God, which is with and alongside the water, and faith, which trusts this Word of God in the water.
WE BELIEVE that The Sacrament of the altar (Communion) is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself for us Christians to eat and to drink. It then follows that Christ’s Words “given for you” and “shed for you for the forgiveness of sins” joined to the external elements show us that forgiveness of sin, life, and salvation are given to us in the sacrament because where there is forgiveness of sin there is also life and salvation. Those that partake of the sacrament shall repent of their sins and believe (have faith in) what Christ’s words say and what they give. All those who let these words “given for you” and “shed for you” be addressed to them and believe that they are true, have what the words declare. But those who partake but do not repent of their sins and/or do not believe have nothing and are partaking unworthily to their great harm.
If a Christian says “I feel unfit” to partake of the sacrament, Luther says in the Large Catechism that: “It is the highest art to realize that this sacrament does not depend upon our worthiness… We come as poor, miserable people, precisely because we are unworthy.” If we wait until we are worthy we will never go. However Luther also states: “Those who are impudent and unruly ought to be told to stay away, for they are not ready to receive the forgiveness of sins because they do not desire it and do not want to be righteous.”
Because of the rapidly changing secular views and laws of today’s culture, we feel it is necessary to state:
WE BELIEVE that per scripture, the only legitimate marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Within that belief, anyone not married but committing acts scripturally granted only for marital unions is committing sins requiring heartfelt repentance.
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are resurrected into joyful life everlasting with Christ, and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
WE BELIEVE in the ever-presence of the Holy Spirit within us by whose guidance the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
